After first meeting while stacking shelves in a Sheffield supermarket, Darcey and Josh’s story came full circle more than a decade later with an intimate spring wedding at Falcon Manor. Surrounded by the rolling Yorkshire Dales, heartfelt personal touches and the people who mean the most to them, their day was everything they had hoped for – cosy, relaxed and filled with unforgettable moments.

ABOUT YOU
Tell us a little about your relationship. How did you meet?
Our story actually began back in 2015 when we were both living in Sheffield. Darcey had just started university, while Josh was coming towards the end of his studies. We first met while working together at a Sainsbury's Local, where our paths crossed for the very first time. Although Josh tried his luck a few times over the years, it wasn't until seven years later that we finally went on our first proper date at a coffee shop in Leeds. The timing was finally right, and everything fell into place from there.
ABOUT YOU
When, where and how was the marriage proposal?
Josh proposed in March 2025 after getting us both out of the house at 7am on a Saturday morning. We headed for a walk around Hunger Hills in Horsforth, where we live, a spot with beautiful views across the Leeds skyline on a clear day. It was just the two of us, apart from one passing dog walker, when Josh got down on one knee. Through plenty of happy tears, Darcey said yes.
YOUR VENUE
What made you choose our venue?
We fell in love with Falcon Manor the moment we walked through the doors. The stunning Yorkshire Dales surrounding the venue, combined with the roaring fire welcoming us inside, immediately gave us the cosy, intimate feeling we wanted for our wedding day. From our very first visit, the team made us feel completely at ease. Everyone was so welcoming, and we knew straight away that Falcon Manor was somewhere we could picture celebrating with all our family and friends.
YOUR VENUE
How was your experience with your Wedding Coordinator?
Katie was fantastic throughout the whole planning process. She was incredibly knowledgeable, always took the time to listen to what we wanted and offered honest advice about what would and wouldn't work. When you're planning a wedding and making so many decisions, having someone you can trust makes such a difference. Katie helped everything feel manageable and gave us complete confidence that we were in safe hands.
YOUR DAY
Who helped plan your wedding? Did anyone in particular bring your wedding to life?
Kole Events transformed the venue beautifully. They absolutely nailed both the décor and the florals, bringing our vision to life perfectly. Everything looked even better than we had imagined.
YOUR DAY
How did your event run on the day? Was there anybody who stood out?
Claire was absolutely incredible. She kept everything running seamlessly behind the scenes, allowing us to completely relax and enjoy every moment of the day. We are so grateful for everything she did and honestly couldn't have asked for anyone better looking after us.
YOUR THEME
Did you have a theme or colour scheme for your wedding?
We chose a palette of soft greens with hints of pink, creating a timeless spring feel that perfectly complemented Falcon Manor and its beautiful surroundings.
YOUR THEME
Were there any extra special unique touches that you included in your day?
There were so many moments throughout the day that made it uniquely ours. My older brother, Ethan, conducted our ceremony as our celebrant after we had legally married the day before, which made the ceremony incredibly personal and meaningful. Later in the day, I surprised everyone by changing into my mum's wedding dress, a moment I'll treasure forever. I also hand-wrote 70 individual poems for our guests, which doubled as their place cards. It took a lot of time, but it was so special to create something personal for everyone who shared our day.
ENTERTAINMENT
What song did you walk down the aisle to?
Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman. It was the perfect song for such an emotional and unforgettable moment.
ENTERTAINMENT
Tell us about your entertainment on the day?
We wanted the entertainment to reflect the atmosphere of the day. Scott Rawlings provided beautiful live piano music, creating the perfect soundtrack throughout the celebrations, before DJ Tom Stone took over in the evening and kept the dance floor full all night.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Who was your photographer? Why did you choose them?
Our photographer was Emma Halliburton Creative. We instantly fell in love with Emma's editing style, but it was her personality that really sealed it for us. Throughout the wedding planning journey, Emma became more than just our photographer - she became a friend. She made us feel completely comfortable in front of the camera, and we genuinely couldn't recommend her highly enough.
PHOTOGRAPHY
What’s your favourite moment that was captured on camera and where was it taken?
It's impossible to choose just one. We absolutely love our outdoor couple portraits in my main dress, making the most of Falcon Manor's beautiful surroundings, but the photographs of us on the staircase after I changed into my second dress are just as special. Every image captures a different part of the day, making it difficult to pick a favourite.
FINAL COMMENTS
Would you like to leave us a quote to feature on our social media pages?
We cannot recommend Falcon Manor enough. The team are absolutely incredible and no request ever felt too big or too much trouble. If you're considering getting married here, do it. We still find ourselves talking about our wedding day all the time, and we'll treasure those memories for the rest of our lives.
