Some love stories take time to unfold, and for Adele and Graham, it was 20 years in the making. As long-time friends, they spent years sharing stories of their single lives, never imagining they’d one day be planning a wedding together. Both having been married before, they knew that love the second time around when finding the right person, is just as magical!
Graham had jokingly proposed a handful of times, but one ordinary day, something changed. With no grand gestures or big surprises, he asked once again—just as he had before. But this time, Adele said yes. The look of pure shock on his face made the moment all the more special, proving that sometimes, the best love stories are the ones that take you by surprise.

Please tell us a little about your relationship. How did you meet?
We met over 20 years ago at work and have been friends for a long time. We used to go for drinks when we were both single and talk about how we were finding single life. We even joked about us both joining a dating site where we just ended up chatting to each other. It was then in Feb 2016 Graham asked me out on a real date and although this wasn’t a dream first date... We became inseparable soon after.

When, where and how was the marriage proposal?
As we have both been married before, it wasn’t a big showy proposal, we had discussed getting married but I was not keen. We joke that Graham wore me down, as one day he asked me like he had done a few times before and I said yes. The surprise and shock for Graham was just adorable.
YOUR VENUE
What made you choose our venue?
We had originally picked another venue, that during planning went into liquidation. We were really upset as the venue was perfect for us and more importantly our dogs, who had to be part of the whole day. I spoke to Helen Proctor via email and explained our situation - that we always spend Christmas at the Royal in Kirkby Lonsdale and we were looking for a small intimate venue that our dogs could be fully part of. Helen was great and put us in touch with Falcon Manor and said they would absolutely be able to help and accommodate to make our day as we had wished. I am big believer in things happen for a reason and this was meant to happen as we were thrilled after our first conversation and fell in love with Falcon Manor the second we saw it!

How was your experience with your Wedding Coordinator?
Izzy was fabulous, but when she left Katie Tasker got in touch who was just FABULOUS. Katie went through everything again to make sure all our requirements were met and although a few bits had not been included in the original notes, Katie sorted these and made sure that our plans were as we had hoped. The only thing Katie couldn’t promise was snow… ha ha ❄
YOUR DAY
Who helped plan your wedding? Did anyone in particular bring your wedding to life?
It was just myself and Graham. As this was just a small intimate wedding we really didn’t need any support. We had fun making plans even on such a small scale and knew anything we did want to plan we could ask Katie for support.

How did your event run on the day? Was there anybody who stood out?
It was exceptional! From Lucie, Claire and Taio being there when we checked in, to the gorgeous Susie who had the biggest of smiles and made sure everything was just perfect from bringing our breakfast to just being fabulous and Paul the chef. We were made to feel so welcome and special. Lucy went above and beyond at every opportunity and Katie was just wonderful making sure we had everything we needed. Amy and Molly who did my hair and makeup were just fantastic. I had not had a trial but they both nailed exactly what I wanted and I was thrilled with my natural look.

Did you have a theme or colour scheme for your wedding?
We said originally no theme as such.. but it came out very simplistic and rustic. Just perfect!

Were there any extra special unique touches that you included in your day?
Not unique as such but our dogs were there through out. With Noodle being flower dog and Barker best dog. Again just exactly what we wanted.
ENTERTAINMENT
What song did you walk down the aisle to?
Eva Cassidy – SongBird… although slightly drowned out by our dog Barker... living up to his name… but special all the same.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Who was your photographer? Why did you choose them?
Rachel Joyce and we had been looking for a photographer that would capture our day in the most perfect way. We both hate being made to have forced fun and fake smiles and Rachel was all about capturing those natural moments. Plus she loves dogs ha ha.

What’s your favourite moment that was captured on camera and where was it taken?
It was actually a short video that Rachel did, that we didn’t actually realise. When she sent this on we were thrilled, it showed us getting ready, the ceremony and the bit where the registrar said I can now pronounce you… I did a happy dance haha with G beaming from ear to ear.
