Stonyhurst College & the Tolkein Trail – 6m - Moderate
Many areas in the UK claim to have inspired J.R.R Tolkien creation of middle earth but the author certainly spent a lot of his time at Stonyhurst College working on The Lord of the Rings during the Second World War. Many have found connections with this landscape around the college and the 6-mile Tolkien Trail explores the Ribble Valley that inspired him. Dog friendly walk.
Ribchester Circular – 5.4m/7m - Moderate
Leaving directly from our door this countryside ramble heads down the valley to the river Ribble where you’ll follow the river towards Ribchester. The circular route doesn’t take in the village directly; however, you can take a short linear detour into Ribchester to visit the museum, Roman Baths and perhaps a beer garden or two! Hurst Green Explorers – 2m & 3m
There are lots of footbaths out of the village that give you the opportunity to see the countryside and views of the college. Please ask at reception for details. Dog friendly walks.
